Rental apartment grants to help you stay in the same apartment during times of financial hardships
Rental apartment grants are given to make funds available to households to assist them with the payment of rent or utilities. Federal tenant-based rental assistance is provided through the Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher program. The program is implemented by local and state public housing agencies, wherein voucher holders receive a subsidy that can be used at any privately-owned rental unit that meets the program guidelines. At least 75 percent of households enrolled in the program each year must be extremely low-income households. Federal project-based rental assistance is provided to private owners or multifamily rental housing through Housing Assistance Payment contracts.
